City Holidays
When any holiday listed above falls on a Saturday, the Friday preceding such a day shall be a holiday. When any holiday listed above falls on a Sunday, the Monday following such day shall be a holiday.
The City observes official holidays throughout the year, aligning closely with federal and state holidays to provide time off for employees and closure of many of our facilities. These typically include major observances such as New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. When a holiday falls on a weekend, the City generally observes it on the preceding Friday or following Monday.
